Pope Leo XIII ordered this prayer to be recited daily after Low Mass in all the churches throughout the Catholic world. However, this practice was almost completely swept away in the 1960s by liturgical changes made in the wake of Vatican Council II. Catholics in the pro-life movement have adopted this prayer. – From the Web site Tradition in Action. For the long version of this beautiful prayer, visit their web site at http://www.traditioninaction.org/religious/b009rpMichael.htm
The Catholics who pray at 220 Main Street recite the short version of the prayer three times every Saturday:
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle! Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
